3 Ways to Beat the Bloat

Many different foods and ingredients in the foods we consume can cause bloating. There are quick ways to proactively beat the bloat.

Start Your Day with Salt Water

When we wake up in the morning, our bodies are dehydrated. It’s important to start your day with water, but I like to add a pinch of Himalayan salt or sea salt to my morning water. The iodine in salt feeds the thyroid and we increase our iodine intake through our food. The thyroid affects our metabolism and energy levels. Also, our bodies will retain excess sodium which can lead to additional water retention and bloating.

Try a Daily Digestion Detox 

Finding a supplement to get your digestive system moving each day. Look for a gentle daily digestion supplement that can be taken every day, won’t cause dependency, and can be easily added to a smoothie or meal. 

Go for the Omegas

Omega fatty acids are great for keeping down the bloat. Foods high in Omega 3’s are some of the best anti-inflammatory foods for your diet so they’re also a nice nutritional bonus. Be careful not to consume too many Omega 6’s and not enough Omega 3’s. Aim for a 1:1 ratio when it comes to omegas. Try foods like walnuts, salmon, chia seeds, avocados, and more.
