When trying to follow a healthy diet, many times people will say that curbing their cravings is one of the most difficult parts of staying strong in their routine. Once you get into a consistent routine of consuming organic, clean foods, it will become easier to find substitutes for your cravings.

A common response to stress or boredom can be to indulge in snacks or treats. Cravings emerge from a deficiency of necessary nutrients in our bodies. When I started changing up my diet, I added powdered green vegetables to my daily smoothies and starting eating tons of plants. This will ensure that your body is getting the necessary nutrients and is a great first step in stopping the cravings.

We’ll go over some quick substitutions for the common cravings. Try these and see which ones work well in curbing cravings for you!

If you’re wanting chocolate, try nuts, seeds, veggies, or fruits. These foodies are providing magnesium.

If you are looking for sugary foods, try broccoli, grapes, cheese, chicken, fresh fruits, chicken, nuts, cranberries, or cabbage.

If you’re craving something savory, try beef, fatty fish, eggs, grains, sweet potatoes, raisins, or cauliflower.

If you want bread, pasta, or carbs, try high protein foods such as fish, nuts, beans, or anything with chia seeds.

If you want oily food, think of foods with calcium such as milk, cheese, or green leafy vegetables.

And, finally, if you want something salty, try fatty fish, goat milk, cashews, nuts, or seeds.

When it comes to a diet shift, it can be beneficial to go cold turkey and jump right into it. It’s a commitment, but one that will have major benefits over time. This diet will ultimately turn into a lifestyle change and allow you to continue eating healthy foods as you grow.
