When it comes to creating a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, so many people misunderstand and confuse what is actually ‘good’ for our minds and bodies.

It’s easy to get caught up in the complication of it all. I’m going to share a few simple ways to keep focused on what is healthy and what isn’t.

Think Variety & Colors

It’s true that when you take a glance at everything on your plate – you want to have as many colors as possible! Adding more variety to your plate will allow you to generally get a larger amount of nutrients.

Hint: ROY-G-BIV your plate. A fun activity may be to have the kids compete to see which plate looks closest to a rainbow. 😉

Less than 1 Ingredient

When you’re moving up and down the grocery store aisles, look for the foods with just ONE ingredient! Don’t overthink it! Anything that is coming directly from the ground, or a tree, or a plant—is going to be as organic as it comes. Think about simplistic fruits and vegetables that you can incorporate into many different types of meals and snacks.

Cook from Home

This has become a lot easier in 2020 for obvious reasons. But by avoiding another night of take-out, you are in control of what is going into that dish. You are in charge of the preparation and any necessary additions to your meals when creating your own meals. It is the most effective way to ensure that you are controlling calories and getting the proper amount of nutrients.

Take it meal-by-meal, read the nutrition labels, and be strategic when in the grocery store!
