Unless you live in a cave, you most likely have heard of apple cider vinegar and possibly wondered what all the hype was about. If you’re looking at improving your health or even for natural ways to clean your home, apple cider vinegar seems to always find its way onto the list. I was personally looking for a way to support a client who needed to do some yeast detoxification and was amazed at how something as simple and affordable as apple cider vinegar could do the trick! These are my favorite uses for apple cider vinegar.
Restores healthy bacteria. It is estimated that over 85% of adults have a yeast or candida overgrowth and this can lead to immune suppression, acne, fatigue, yeast infections and more. If you feel you are addicted to sugar or carbs, then you could probably benefit from adding apple cider vinegar into your daily regimen. You can start with 1 teaspoon added to your water and work your way up to 1-2 tablespoons. It kinda reminds me of kombucha and is definitely an acquired taste. If you ever get a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis, instead of going on useless antibiotics that just perpetuate the problem, try a homemade apple cider vinegar douche instead.
Weight Loss. There was a study done in 2009 that was published in BioScience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry where the participants consumed acetic acid for 12 weeks (which is what apple cider vinegar consists of, along with water). They had significant decline in body weight, abdominal fat, waist circumference and triglycerides. I’d recommend at least doing 1-2 teaspoons in 16 ounces of water daily.
Detoxification. Because we are bombarded with toxins all day long, I strongly believe that everyone should incorporate ways to naturally detoxify their bodies on a daily basis. What’s cool about apple cider vinegar is that it balances the body’s pH levels so it detoxifies the whole body. This can also be very beneficial for clearing up acne as that is often a major issue. I also love that it has been shown to clean the lymphatic system which is often associated with conditions as serious as autoimmune diseases to cancer. Love your lymphatic system!
Alleviates Allergies. This is now an epidemic that affects at least 15 millions Americans and is on the rise. Apple cider vinegar has been researched for its ability to break up mucous throughout the body as well as sinus congestion. This is another area that is heavily medicated and just seems to make the problem worse in my opinion.
As you can see, these are all profound ways that we can improve our health, and I think it’s awesome how easy and affordable it is to do. Quality is super important so this is the brand I get:
If you’re pretty crafty in the kitchen, you can easily make this at home too!
Even beyond these four tips, the possibilities are endless!
