How to Finally Lose those Stubborn Pounds

With two thirds of our population either overweight or obese, we need to figure out how to drop pounds-for good. I can’t tell you how many of my clients have come to me after losing tons of weight from a quick weight-loss program, only to have gained it all back and then some. For long-term results, I want to teach you how to finally lose those stubborn pounds.

To start, let’s address why quick weight-loss schemes fail. These programs typically cause your body to lose the wrong kind of weight-water weight, muscle loss and even a depletion of key nutrients. As soon as you’re taken off of the program, your body retains more water, more calories and even more fat. This is why many times you end up weighing more than you did before you started the program. How frustrating!

Instead, I have found the desired type of weight loss, which is from stored fat, can positively be achieved through detoxification. In order for your body to break down fat molecules, you have to have a properly functioning liver. Your liver purifies your blood and cleanses your body of toxins. With our poor habits and stressful lifestyles, a lot of us do not have an efficient liver.

So what does a healthy liver have to do with getting rid of unwanted body fat? The liver produces bile acid, and it’s this bile that is required to break down your fat molecules and get rid of them. The more toxins you have in your body, the harder it is for your body to break down fat. Make sense? Good, now let’s look at what you can do to detoxify your body.

Fiber with Lemon Water

On an empty stomach, mix fiber with half an organic lemon squeezed in room temperature water. The acidic nature of lemon actually cleanses your tissues and organs, and the fiber encourages proper digestion and elimination. My favorite kind is GenEssentials Fiber.

Get Your Greens

I know I am always encouraging you to eat more greens and here’s why. The more greens you eat, the more alkaline your body will be. It’s much harder for toxins to exist in an alkaline environment. I have a Green Smoothie (and one scoop of greens) every morning. These greens work together to help the body to cleanse and detoxify. Another great trick is to eat one salad per day.

Eat Detoxifying Super Foods

Here are my favorite super foods that are nutrient-dense and detoxifying:

  • Pomegranates
  • Kale
  • Quinoa
  • Chia Seeds
  • Almonds
  • Noni
  • Cat’s Claw

Get Movin’

Even if you just go for a twenty minute brisk walk three times per week, you will be eliminating toxins as long as you break a sweat. One of the seven channels of elimination is the skin, and the skin is the largest organ in the body. What a great way to get rid of those toxins!

To kick start the process, I like to have my clients do a natural cleanse. Choose one that cleanses the liver, and also all other organs as well. By incorporating these detoxifying steps, not only will you lose those stubborn pounds, you will finally be able to keep them off for good!
